2012 Visiting Scholars

Prof. KANG Zhijie

Professor Kang Zhijie is a professor of the Department of Political Science of Wubei University. Her main area of research is Historical Studies of Chinese Christianity. Publications include “The Vineyard of God — A Case Study of a Catholic Community in North-west Wubei, 1636-2005” (Aug 2006); 《尋覓“丟失的記憶”:辛亥革命時期武漢暨長沙聖公會基督徒參與社會變革活動研究》(Dec 2005); “Christianity along the Yangtze River” (Apr 2006); 《基督教的禮儀》 (Sep 2011). Besides, Prof. Kang has published more than 90 articles.

Professor Kang was invited as a visiting professor at the Centre for Catholic Studies from 4 Jan 2012 to 4 Mar 2012. Her research topic was “History of Chinese Catholic Women Celibacy (中國天主教貞女發展歷史及特點).” She delivered two public talks during the above period.

Rev. Dr. Leo D. LEFEBURE

Rev. Dr. Leo D. Lefebure is a Professor of Theology at Georgetown University. He is the recipient of the Pax Christi U.S.A. 2001 Book Award. Recent publications include “The Path of Wisdom: A Christian Commentary on the Dhammapada” which received the 2011 Frederick J. Streng Book of the Year Award from the Society for Buddhist-Christian Studies of North America. He is currently on the Board of Trustees of the Council for a Parliament of the World’s Religions.

Prof. Lefebure was invited to be a visiting scholar at the Centre for Catholic Studies from 30 April to 30 June 2012 to give public lectures on interreligious dialogue and conduct workshops on the Dhammapada.
